Example
  • USDOT details update
    $109
Was due 22 days ago — 9 March
FMCSA can switch off your USDOT number and charge up to $1,000 for every day it is late.
  • Interstate registration (UCR)
    $75
Due before you run in 2026
Officers see this at the scale. You can be held there until it is paid.
  • Annual truck tax (2290)
    $15
Due 31 August — for the year starting 1 July
Without the stamped Schedule 1 the DMV will not renew your plates.
  • Fuel tax (IFTA)
    $89 a quarter
31 Jan, 30 Apr, 31 Jul, 31 Oct — if you cross state lines
Your record does not say which states you buy fuel in, so we ask you once and then handle every quarter.
  • Drug and alcohol testing pool
    Paid
    Renews in November

Looking is free and you do not need an account. We only charge when you ask us to file something.

The filings

What a small carrier actually owes.

Not all of these are yours. It depends on 3 things. Do you cross state lines. How many trucks you run. What you haul. Your record tells us most of it.

Your USDOT update date is hidden in your own number.

2 digits decide it. Nobody tells you which.

Last digit gives the month

1 is January, 2 is February, up to 9 for September. A 0 means October.

The digit before it gives the year

Odd means you file in odd years. Even means even years.

USDOT 44110 ends in 1 then 0. The 0 means October. The 1 is odd, so odd years. Due October 2027, and every second October after.

What each one is, and exactly when yours is due →

Every one of these is free or cheap to file yourself. The work is knowing which apply to you and when, and not being wrong.

If you miss one

They switch your number off.

$1,000

a day, to a maximum of $10,000, for one late USDOT update. Then FMCSA deactivates the number entirely.

  • The truck does not moveThis is not a fine you pay later. The officer stops the truck. Right there. With your load on it.
  • The plates do not renewThe DMV wants a stamped truck-tax form. No stamp means no plates. The truck sits.
  • The load goes to somebody elseBrokers check your record before they book you. A dead number loses work. You never hear about it.
Failure to complete biennial updates to FMCSA will subject the entities to civil penalties of up to $1,000 per day with a maximum penalty of $10,000. FMCSA may also deactivate the USDOT Number for any entity that fails to comply with the updating requirements. — FMCSA registration guidance

FMCSA has paused switching numbers off while its new system settles. It has said it will give notice before starting again.

The obvious question

Why not do it yourself?

You can. The government charges nothing for the USDOT update. We are not hiding that.

You are paying us for the part that is not free. Knowing which of the 8 filings are yours. Knowing the date, which comes from your own DOT number and is not the same as anybody else's. And not getting a box wrong that you find out about a year later.

Where our answers come from

We read your official record. We do not guess.

Every date comes from your FMCSA record. That is the same data the officer sees when he runs your number at the scale. Not a guess. Not a mailing list.

  • We never ask for your government passwordYou keep your own account. You add Filed by number inside the government system. You can remove us yourself in 1 minute. Never give that password to anyone.
  • We do not send postcardsSomething in the mail says you owe a fee? It is not from us. Check your record.

How it works

You do 1 thing. We do the rest.

The government makes the owner show who he is, and sign. Nobody is allowed to do that for you. Not us. Everything else is ours.

  • 1 time: you show who you areYou need your licence and your phone. We stay on the line while you do it. In your language. It goes wrong often, so we stay if it does.
  • Then: we do the restWe fill in every box. We check it against your record. We have it ready a week early, not on the day. You see it before we send it.
  • You sign, and it is finished1 tap on your phone. We send you the proof. We keep a copy. We tell you the next date.

Who this is for

One truck to ten.

More than half of carriers run 1 truck. 9 in 10 run 10 or fewer. None of them have an office for this. If somebody in an office does your paperwork, you do not need us. If it is you, at night, after driving all day, this is for you.

Questions

What people ask us before they start.

Is this the government?

No. We are a private company. FMCSA is the government. We prepare and file your paperwork with them, the way an accountant files your taxes with the IRS. Every page of ours says so at the bottom.

Do you need my Login.gov password?

No, and you should never give that to anybody. You keep your own account. Inside the government system you add Filed as your filing service using our filer number, and you can remove us the same way. Any service that asks you for your government password is putting your company at risk.

I cannot get into my own FMCSA account. Can you help?

Yes, and this is the most common reason people find us. The government replaced its old system in May 2026. A lot of carriers are locked out because the email on file belongs to a filing service they used years ago, or to somebody who no longer works for them. Getting it back is a process and we do it with you.

What if I already missed a deadline?

It is fixable. Late is normal and it is most of what we do. Put in your DOT number and we will show you exactly how late, and what it costs to put right.

How much is it altogether?

You see the full price on screen before you give us anything, and it does not change. Looking is free. There is no account to make and no card to enter to see your dates.

Do you speak my language?

English, Spanish, Punjabi and Russian. You can send us a voice message instead of writing, and if you would rather do the whole thing on the phone, tell us and we will call you.

Can you do this for my two other trucks?

Yes. Most of these filings are per company rather than per truck, so a second and third truck usually costs nothing extra on the paperwork. The truck tax is the exception.

See what your company owes.

Free to look. No account. Takes about ten seconds.
